If you submit a question -“How much RAM is needed for a modern Android smartphone” in a search engine, such Google, you will get a prompt response of 6 GB. Let’s investigate whether this is actually the case.

A just five years ago, Nobody caring about RAM size in smart phones and using RAM in the range of 512MB to 1GB was thought to be standard. And before to this, while purchasing a phone, no one was particularly interested in this value. instead, everyone was more concerned with the storage capacity.
Since smartphones can now compete in certain ways with laptops and desktop computers, times have changed. Some people even make the joke that their personal smartphone has more RAM than their home PC. Such phones are no longer useful, and it is doubtful that they will ever be able to run multiple programs and Apps, let alone just be used as a “dialer”.
How RAM affects Smartphones
RAM is a very important part of any smartphone which is used to make the device run smoothly. RAM must be according to device and OS type, RAM of the device enables it to run multiple applications parallelly .
It is required to run many applications at once since RAM works in combination with the central processor on both PCs and smartphones. Because of its speed, this memory is relatively expensive. Already, installing a complete system on an Android device takes at least 2GB of RAM. You must install a streamlined version of the system on cellphones with less of it.
Why my smartphone become slow
Now smartphones are asking for more RAM because applications have started becoming heavy. Some developers, while creating applications, save RAM for their applications separately in the program, due to which, RAM is used for other apps and the user does not even know.
Due to this, the user feels that the phone has become slow. That’s why the user should close those apps in the background which eat more RAM or are not necessary.

With the advent of specific algorithms, the system can now independently decide what can be closed and what should be left. In the past, the first open program on older smartphones would be emptied from RAM. If the phone only has 1GB RAM installed, the system will consume more than 80% of this space, making it impossible to install or even open some programmes.
Running with 1 to 2GB RAM will be extremely slow, and most of the programs will not only slow down but significantly slow down at the same time. Working in such a smartphone today is simply difficult. Additionally, you need to disregard games in general. The amount of RAM a smartphone has has a significant impact on how smoothly and steadily it operates.
How much RAM needed by my smartphone ?
If you run games or heavy applications from your smartphone then you definitely need 6 to 12GB of RAM. Otherwise, a simple smartphone in which the user only takes a call or a photo, has enough 3 to 4GB RAM.
Let’s assume that a current smartphone in our example requires at least 3GB of RAM to function. Since the system will consume the majority of it, It turns out that 4 to 6GB of RAM is the best choice right now.
When you have a lot of RAM, you can keep a lot of tabs and Apps open at once, and after some time, you can quickly start any “App” you want. This won’t function on devices with smaller speakers, you will need to wait again for the application to install.
However, Apple phones require the least amount of RAM and perform superbly on any work – it still depends on platform and software optimization. Since Android isn’t as suited for a wide range of different smartphone models, an increase in RAM won’t hurt and the more the better. Additionally, new functionalities have “overgrown” modern systems and applications.
The main drawback to greater RAM is that it causes the phone to use more power to operate. The smartphone’s lithium-ion battery is under more strain. thus battery may consumed more than usual.
In 2022–2023, a volume of 4 to 6 GB is ideal, but hardly longer. Already, Android devices with 6 to 16GB or even more RAM are available for purchase. This is unavoidable, therefore consider this factor while selecting a smartphone for yourself.
