Marilyn Monroe Syndrome

Psychoanalysts have a term called “Marilyn Monroe Syndrome,” which is not a disease but rather a state of mindWomen suffering from this syndrome are tormented by self-loathing and a fruitless search for love. Oddly enough, almost half of the women in the world suffer from it. But why was Marilyn at the head of them?

Some psychologists link it directly to the life of Marilyn Monroe and explain it a bit further. Marilyn Monroe syndrome occurs when a woman has feelings for particularly unsuitable men. She gradually loses herself in their company, and like Marilyn Monroe, she may end up committing suicide as a result.

Monroe found consolation in alcohol and drugs, fleeting love affairs, but she could not overcome the horror that began in her childhood, committing suicide with a large dose of sleeping pills.

And how did this term come? Once upon a time, two American women—Dr. Elizabeth McAvoy, a psychoanalyst who has a private practice in New York, and writer Susan Israelson—wrote a book, “The Marilyn Monroe Syndrome” (“Lovesick“), which became a bestseller. Marilyn Monroe syndrome is a complex or emotional illness in which a person, with all his well-being and success, feels like a failure.

This syndrome got its name in honour of the sex symbol of the last century, Marilyn Monroe, who is believed to have suffered from this psychological illnessAmerican psychiatrists call Monroe syndrome love addiction.

Can Marilyn Monroe Syndrome be cured ?

According to McCavoy and Israelson, Marilyn Monroe syndrome can be cured. According to American researchers, a woman who has embarked on the path of recovery must adhere to the following commandments:

  • Love yourself with unconditional love.
  • See recovery as your life’s work.
  • Respect yourself.
  • Believe in yourself.
  • Take care of yourself.
  • Give all your strength to the restructuring of your body, mind and soul.
  • Love your body and take care of it.
  • Be open to new ideas that will help change your life.
  • Enjoy your own life.
  • Promise yourself to conquer your syndrome.

Marilyn Monroe went down in history as one of the most beautiful women on the planet, but in her heart she was deeply unhappy, which she often wrote about in her diary and spoke to the press.
