Best time to visit Kishan Kund
The best time to visit Kishan Kund is during the rainy season when there is water and greenery and the weather is pleasant. You will not like going here in the summers because summers are very hot in Alwar.
Why was Kishan Kund named so?
There are many folklores, but the most popular is this: It is believed that a waterfall flowed here, which formed a small pond. In ancient times, a sage named Kishandas lived. The king here had no children, so people told him about the Sage. The sage used to eat only leaves. The king requested him, then the sage said take the water of this pond to your palace. And make the queen take a bath with this water for 40 days. Both of you have to consume this water. Then the king got a child. Then the king built a grand pond here and renovated the earlier rainy drain to take this water to the palace.
Along with this, another story is that Lord Krishna used to come here for a walk.
But the first one seems closer to reality. Because the Kund is made to collect the pure rainwater and take it to the palace. This 35-foot-wide, 38-foot-long, and 25-foot-deep Kund gets water from rainwater as well as water that comes from the internal source of the hills. Anyway, you will like its peace here more than the story.
How is Kishan Kund in reality ?
Apart from being a religious place, it is also a favourite tourist place for the people of Alwar. There is a different thrill in watching the flowing waterfalls here during the rainy season. But due to being away from the city and being quiet, many times people also come here to drink beer or alcohol. You can also find reel makers and couples here.
There is no restriction or fee in Kishan Kund, nor is it being monitored by the administration. A local committee takes care of this place, but the Kund is not so clean. People often try to take a bath in the Kund, but bathing is prohibited here because many people have died by drowning or slipping from the rocks. But there is no one to follow the rules here. You will also find one or two people here to guard the temple.
Before going to Kishan Kund, know that this is a forest part of National Park Sariska, so you will easily find wild animals here. Animals like deer, stag, and monkeys always roam around. But be cautious; movements of panthers or tigers here sometimes, so do not go alone in the early morning or evening. Yes, if you like trekking, then you can also go to Bala Quila on foot from here, with the permission of the administration.
It is a peaceful place for meditation and yoga activities as there is no traffic and no pollution. You only hear the sounds of birds and birds. But it is sure that this place will change your mood.
