patrika gate

Patrika Gate, located at the entrance of Jawahar Circle Garden in Jaipur, the pink city of Rajasthan, is a wonderful blend of architecture, art, and culture. It was built by the Patrika Group in 2016 but has now become a place for photography, Instagram reels, and entertainment.

When you visit here, you will be able to see the intricate carvings of its gate, vibrant murals, and hand-painted panels reflecting the history, traditions, and artistic spirit of the state, making it one of the sights in Jaipur.

Every pillar and arch depicts the traditional crafts and folk music of Rajasthan. It was built as a symbol of Jaipur’s artistic identity, but it has become a popular spot for photography, especially wedding and pre-wedding shoots, due to its attractive vibrant colors and grand appeal. Which makes it a very crowded place.

Since entry is free, there is a crowd of local boys and girls. After seeing it, I felt that Patrika Gate is like the new love point of the youth in Jaipur. People come here well-dressed from home. Boys will be seen showing off their bikes or cars. Whatever it is, Patrika Gate is young Jaipur.

Tips for Visitors

  • Best Time to Visit: Early morning or late evening for a best experience.
  • Entry Fees: Free for all
  • Parking: Limited space; service lanes nearby are an alternative.
  • Accessibility: The location is 3 km from Jaipur International Airport, with nearby hotels like Radisson Blu and Marriott offering convenient accommodation options.
  • Facilities: Be mindful of limited changing areas, often charged at Rs. 50 to100, but the absence of proper cleanliness.

Jawahar Circle: Beyond the Gate

In reality, Patrika Gate is part of the larger Jawahar Circle complex. It is not separate. It’s garden, called Jawahar Garden, has almost 1.4 km long walking and jogging track, exercise machines for fitness enthusiasts and swings and slides for kids to play with. Families can relax on shaded benches while enjoying the ambiance.

One of the main attractions of the garden is the evening musical fountain show, which is held daily from 8:00 pm to 8:30 pm. Though my experience was not great, it does bring life to the place.

You will find vendors selling street food, such as pav bhaji, outside the gate. But this makes the atmosphere untidy as some people throw cups, polythene or food wafers. Since this is a crowded place, the guards standing at the gate can be rude to you if you do not obey them. Security is not a problem here. I also found a police van deployed in the evenings.

Crowds and Maintenance Issues

The Patrika Gate attraction often gets crowded, especially during weekends and due to professional photographers and pre-wedding shoots. It is possible that you want to take photos at a particular location and someone else is there. I found some guards allowing some photographers to dominate the place, perhaps in exchange for small bribes, which hampered the experience for others. Anyway, competition is inevitable in such a place.

I found maintenance issues; litter and plastic waste are commonly seen, which reduces the visual appeal of the gate. Better cleanliness and management can make the experience much better for all visitors.

Best Time to Visit and Tips

To appreciate the beauty of Patrika Gate, you’d better visit early in the morning or late in the night. I visited around 8 pm when the lights brought out the colors of the gate, offering plenty of photography opportunities. Entry is free, but parking can be challenging if you visit during peak hours, as service lanes are often used as an alternative.

Easy to reach, Patrika Gate is located between Malviya Nagar and Durgapura on Tonk Road and is just 3 km from Jaipur International Airport. Nearby hotels, including Radisson Blu and Marriott, make it a convenient stop for tourists.
